Top 10 Qualifying for BGB Porsches for
Monday's Lime Rock Grand Prixs

For Immediate Release

(Lakeville, CT- May 25, 2008) BGB Motorsports drivers Jon Miller and Mike Piera qualified in the 4th and 6th spots respectively, during Saturday’s 15 minute qualifying session to start their Porsches in the 2nd and 3rd rows for Monday’s Grand-Am GT Classic Koni Challenge race.  The always strong and familiar yellow and blue M3 of Turner Motorsports will start from the pole; the M3 however has half a dozen hungry Porsches behind him that are looking to deliver Porsche a win at what’s always been known as a BMW track.  Since the Koni Challenge series has been racing at Lime Rock Park, the Turner Motorsports BMW M3 is unbeaten.  BGB will look to break that streak during Monday’s 2.5 hour battle at BMW’s home race track.

As the #83 BGB Porsche leads the Championship, a 4th place spot on the grid gives the team an optimistic feeling as they prepare for Monday’s event.  Jon Miller will hand off his Porsche to current points leader Craig Stanton as Stanton looks to go two-for-two for BGB at Lime Rock on Monday.
Driver Jon Miller had more to add:

“The car was really really good and has been good all weekend.  I was just trying to find a gap in traffic so that I could put in a good qualifying lap. ”

Mike Piera and his #38 BGB Motorsports Porsche showed that there’s no substitute for seat time at Lime Rock Park.  Piera, a local Connecticut Porsche racer has been racing at the unique and bumpy Lime Rock Park since the mid-80’s and claims to have more laps at Lime Rock than he does anywhere else combined.  Piera was all smiles:

“It took me a lap or two to get in the groove.  I don’t have a lot of time on the Hoosier tire so I’m unfamiliar with how long it takes the tire to come up to temp.  The car was really good though and I felt confident.  I look forward to race with Dirk on Monday.”

Piera is joined by 2007 Rolex GT Driver’s Champion and Farnbacher Loles driver Dirk Werner.  The two share the same goal as their teammates as they attempt to deliver a win for Porsche at BMW’s home race track.

Live timing and scoring information for the race is available on the Grand-Am Koni Challenge homepage at http://www.grand-am.com/livetiming/.  The green flag for Monday’s 2.5 hour Koni Challenge race drops at 9:45am and the race will be broadcast on Speed TV on May 31st at 11:00pm.

BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional motorsports business.  The team’s facility is located less than 15 miles from Daytona International Speedway and the headquarters for the Grand American Road Racing Association. Entering their 5th season of Grand Am Koni Challenge competition, the team is looking to improve on last year’s 3rd place finish in the Team and Driver’s Championship.  BGB operates as a customer oriented business, running cars under the Grand American Road Racing, Sports Car Club of America and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies.  This season will be the team’s sophomore year with Porsche’s latest 911 chassis, the 997 Carrera.
