BGB Porsches Head North To Protect
Championship Lead After Long Hiatus
For Immediate Release
(Ormond Beach, FL- May 20, 2008) It’s been over 3.5 months since the checkered flag fell at Daytona to wrap up the opening round of the 2008 season. Most of the Grand-Am Koni Challenge competitors were even beginning to wonder whether or not this week would ever arrive; not only has it arrived, but we’re about to try and pull off 8 race weekends in that same 3.5 month period where we had none.
Craig Stanton will return to pilot the #83 PerformanceDrink.com Porsche 997 that he and Tim Traver drove into Gatorade Victory Lane at Daytona in January to score BGB’s first win of 2008. Jon Miller will assume Tim Traver’s duties for the remainder of the 2008 season. A very excited Miller has promised that in exchange for a year of knowledge from Craig Stanton and BGB, he’ll do everything in his power to help deliver a Team Championship for BGB and a 2nd Koni Driver’s Championship for Craig Stanton. Craig Stanton had more to add:
“I’m really excited to get back in the BGB Porsche. The guys have worked hard on the cars in the interim and we’ve been testing. Jon Miller was up to speed immediately. Our car last year was very good here and I have no reason to think that it won’t be this year.”
The season-long partnership of Dan Selznick and David Murry that was due to commence at this weekend’s Lime Rock Park round, will not commence until the combined Koni Challenge / Indy Racing League event at Watkins Glen in July. Work conflicts prohibit the two from putting on what would have been an unbelievable display of Stanton/Murry BGB Porsche power. The car will however be on display at Lime Rock Park during the event and anyone interested in running a car with race winning potential should call BGB ASAP.
BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional motorsports business. In 2006 the team won the 6 hour VIR finale, securing the manufacturers trophy for Porsche Cars North America. During 2007 BGB Motorsports finished 3rd in the 2007 Koni Challenge Team Championship. The #38 Porsche finished in the top-10 seven consecutive times in seven attempts and visited the podium during all 3 final races in 2007. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, the team operates as a customer oriented business, running cars under the Grand American Road Racing, SCCA and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies. |
