Mikel Miller Released From Hospital
Following Accident In Sunday’s
Grand Prix De Trois Rivières

For Immediate Release

(TROIS RIVIÈRES, QC- August 22, 2007) Mikel Miller was taken to the Centre hospitalier regional de Trois-Rivières to be examined for stomach pain and continual bleeding as a result of an accident involving the Turner Motorsports BMW and the concrete barrier at the end of the 2nd back straight during the final laps of Sunday’s race. His #83 BGB Motorsports Porsche 997 sustained heavy front end damage after contacting the concrete barrier and ricocheting into another before it came to a stop. Miller was released on Monday morning after undergoing surgery to install a catheter to repair a lacerated urethra near his bladder. Team manager John Tecce had the following to say:

“Mikel is out and I have him in a hotel room so that he can rest before he attempts to fly home. He’s in a fair bit of pain and can’t really function on his own right now. I expect him to be out of commission for about two weeks. You’d think that at this level of motorsports that there’s a better sense of discretion, but I guess not. Street circuits can make for dangerous situations if you open the possibility for it. It was a pretty heavy hit.”

Mikel was treated by Dr. Gaetan Duchesnay at the Centre hospitalier regional de Trois-Rivières. The entire BGB Motorsports team would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Duchesnay and his staff for doing an excellent job caring for Mikel during this difficult time.

Mikel Miller had more to add:

“I don’t really want to comment too much right now because I’m in pain and pretty disgusted. I feel bad for the folks at BGB because Craig and I had great cars at the end of the race. The cars were the best they’ve been in a long time and I was just waiting until I was allowed to push and stop conserving the car. I was in 7th before the penalty on the restart and I feel like I really exercised restraint with the car but I never got the opportunity to do anything about it.”
