BGB Heads North To Trois Rivières For
Tight Koni Challenge Points Battle

For Immediate Release

(DAYTONA BEACH, FL - August 13, 2007) For the 3rd year in a row the Koni Challenge Series returns to the narrow street circuit of Trois Rivières, Quebec to headline the Grand Prix De Trois Rivières. BGB still sits in 4th place in the 2007 Team Championship in the middle of a battle of BMWs and Mustangs. While #38 Performance Drink Porsche 997 has been the lone Porsche up front in the Team Championship, strong performances by some of the other Porsche teams have put Porsche Cars North America back in contention for a Manufacturer’s title. Teammates Tim Traver and Mikel Miller’s win during last year’s 6 hour finale at VIR delivered Porsche the title last year; they’re looking forward to returning in their #83 PerformanceDrink / SimpleNet.com Porsche 997 to lend a hand with the points chase and help teammates Hugh Plumb and Craig Stanton hang onto their foothold in the #38 Porsche.

During the previous race at Barber Motorsports Park both BGB Porsches raced up to the top 10, only to be caught out by a caution period that never arrived. Team Manager John Tecce had more to add:

“The entire first hour of the race was plagued with caution laps. We held out for the yellow that never came. I didn’t speak to one team after the race that didn’t get blindsided by that. Hugh Plumb and Tim Traver stayed up front but we had to pit under green for fuel. We’ve had good strategy thus far; I didn’t see that coming and we paid the price and had to pit them both at once under green.”

Hugh Plumb qualified the #38 Porsche in 12th right in front of teammate Tim Traver in 13th. During their stints in Sunday’s 400K race, both drivers managed to hover around the top 10 despite multiple attempts by competitors to shuffle them back. Each time they clawed their way back but the caution period everyone on pit road was hoping for, never showed up. With both cars prepared exactly the same, both teammates ran out of fuel at the same time and had to be pitted simultaneously. This shuffled Craig Stanton in the #38 back to the 26th spot and sent teammate Mikel Miller in the #83 back even further to 31st. Suffering from a pit road penalty caused by the simultaneous pit stop, Miller found himself a lap down but battled his way back to 28th. Stanton was fortunate enough to have a stint that wasn’t plagued from the start like Miller’s. Craig put on a very impressive drive that vaulted him to the 9th spot. Stanton’s run had everyone on their toes as he passed Andrew Davis in a TRG prepared Porsche on the last turn of the last lap at Davis’ home track where he instructs for the Porsche Driving Experience.

This weekend’s Gran Prix De Trois Rivières or GP3R as it has become known begins with teams unloading on Thursday morning. Sunday’s GS race starts at 3:00pm, with qualifying for this weekend’s race at 9:45am on Saturday morning. Live timing and scoring is available on the web at http://www.grand-am.com. Stay tuned for details.
