BGB Moves To 4th Place In GS Championship
As They Head To Barber Motorsports Park
For Immediate Release
(DAYTONA BEACH, FL - July 18, 2007) As the final minutes of the Supercuts 200 at Watkins Glen wound down it looked as if BGB Motorsports would continue their streak of finishing with both of their Porsches in the top 10 for the 3rd race in a row. This would not be the case however, as three competing BMWs tried to occupy the same space entering the bus stop during the final laps of the race. The victim in this tussle was Mikel Miller in his PerformanceDrink/Jetalia Porsche 997. Hugh Plumb and Craig Stanton brought their #38 Performance Drink Porsche 997 home in 8th place however, as a string of consistent finishes for the #38 allowed them to move up to the 4th place in the Team Championship.
Team Manager John Tecce had more to add:
“It was a day of excitement and frustration. Hugh was out in front with the #38 for over 20 laps. When Craig got in the car the pedal began to deteriorate so he had nothing to fight with and went into conservation mode. It’s a shame for both cars. Mikel was headed for another top 10 but for the 4th time this year contact with another car took that opportunity away from us.”
Both BGB cars had great opening stints with Hugh Plumb taking the lead on lap 17 with teammate Tim Traver sitting behind him in 5th place. Plumb kept everyone behind him for several laps until it was time to pit for fuel and tires and deliver the car to Stanton. Tim Traver also held his ground strongly, never dropping below the 7th spot before it was his turn to hand the car over to Mikel Miller. The #38 and #83 BGB Porsches finished 8th and 21st respectively.
