BGB Finishes First Again
Among The Porsches At Mosport
For Immediate Release
(DAYTONA BEACH, FL June 19, 2007) When you have four drivers able to execute flawless stings and a crew that’s faster than any other on pit road, putting two Porsches in the top 10 at a track completely dominated by Mustangs and BMWs is highly achievable. Craig Stanton brought home his #38 Performance Drink.com Porsche 997 after Hugh Plumb started the car from pit road while Mikel Miller delivered the #83 Performance Drink.com / Jetalia Porsche 997 in 10th after a fantastic opening stint by Tim Traver and a great closing performance by the young gun that delivered BGB their first win in 2006. The team that refuses to quit hopped back into the top Porsche spot in the 2007 Team Championship in 5th place while the #83 Porsche continues to make its way back to the top 10.
Starting from pit road after qualifying 14th, Hugh Plumb got to work immediately. “Hugh was late to the grid because of me,” added John Tecce. “I’m extremely lucky to have a driver and a crew that can cover my mistakes. I dodged a bullet. His three less laps on track allowed us to pit only once.” Plumb drove the Porsche up to 10th and handed the car over to Craig Stanton. Stanton brought the car home for BGB to put the #38 back in 5th place in the Championship.
Tim Traver proved yet again that he was what it takes to keep his car within striking distance for teammate Mikel Miller. Qualifying in the 18th spot Traver drove up to the top 10 and pitted for fuel and tires to hand off to Mikel Miller. Miller then proceeded to move forward with an excellent drive for both teammates that had never seen the historic venue. A late race splash for fuel relegated Miller to a 10th place spot unfortunately as the race ended under caution prohibiting Miller from making up more ground.
For the 3rd time this year the Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series has no recovery time between rounds. The BGB Porsches head to Mid Ohio tomorrow for the 7th round of the 2007 season. Last year the #38 BGB Porsche finished on the podium. This year the team plans to achieve a similar feat but intends to add another Porsche to the podium at a track that’s more suited to the Porsche’s strengths. A favorite of all of the drivers and the entire BGB team, Mid Ohio has been good to BGB and fingers are crossed that she’ll continue to be.
Qualifying for this weekend’s 400 kilometer race at Mid Ohio is at 4:30pm on Friday afternoon. The green flag for Saturday’s race falls at 2:15pm. Living timing and scoring is available on the web at http://www.grand-am.com. Stay tuned for details.
