Porsche Veteran Hugh Plumb To Join
Craig Stanton And BGB Motorsports
For Immediate Release
(DAYTONA BEACH, FL – June 16, 2007) BGB Motorsports is looking to put another arrow in their quiver as they continue to carry the flag for Porsche in the Koni Challenge Series. The #38 PerformanceDrink Porsche 997 occupies the 7th spot in a Team Championship where only two Porsches occupy spots in the top 10. The German manufacturer can use the help in its battle against the mighty Mustangs and M3s. Hugh Plumb of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania will join long time friend and former teammate Craig Stanton in the #38 Porsche 997 fielded by BGB Motorsports.
“I’m pretty excited about this opportunity. I’ve known Craig for a long time and the guys at BGB have an excellent program. I think that Craig and I can do well together. We’ve done well together in the past and all of the right factors are there.”
Plumb’s diverse background in street stock racing allows him to bring some deep experience to the BGB team. Known mostly as a Porsche guy, Hugh’s background isn’t specific to the 911. Last year Hugh and his brother Matt helped deliver the manufacturer’s crown to Acura for the 2006 Grand-Am Cup Street Tuner class. Prior to this Hugh has run with other top Porsche teams in the American Le Mans Series, Rolex Series and the Real Time Racing Acura program in the SCCA’s World Challenge Series.
Team Manager John Tecce had more to add:
“I’m looking forward to working with Hugh. I think that his personality really suits our team. I know that he’s a pretty accomplished driver but at BGB we look at more than just the resume. I think it will be a great addition. Team chemistry is everything to us. The driver lineup in the #83 car is pretty strong. Tim Traver and Mikel Miller delivered us our first Porsche win last year. This puts us in a position to have two cars with the potential to really do well. It’s tough for the Porsche this year. We need all the help we can get.”
BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional Motorsports business. Last year BGB Motorsports won the 6 hour VIR finale, securing the manufacturers title for Porsche Cars North America. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, the team operates as a customer-oriented business, running cars under the Grand Am Cup, SCCA and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies.
