BGB Maintains 5th Spot in Team Points After
Post Race Tech Inspection at Laguna

For Immediate Release

(DAYTONA BEACH, FL - May 23, 2007) After the conclusion of 2.5 hours of hard racing, there was an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment in the BGB pits.

Craig Stanton and Steve Bernheim brought their #38 PerformanceDrink.com/Bernheim Law Porsche 997 home in 9th place while teammates Tim Traver and Mikel Miller brought their PerformanceDrink.com/Jetalia Porsche 997 home in 11th place. Throughout the weekend it looked as if the Porsches would be outgunned by the BMWs and a few of the Mustangs. Even further back among the Porsches were the BGB 997s. The team got together and decided that it was time to return to their roots when they relied on good strategy and pit stops to advance their drivers through the field. The goal was set and achieved. The advancement however continued even after the race concluded as the top 3 finishing cars, all Porsches, were fined and stripped of their points. These penalties advanced the #83 Porsche of Tim Traver and Mikel Miller to the 26th spot in team points to the 16th spot while the #38 landed in 5th spot in team points.

Tim Traver qualified his #83 BGB Porsche 997 in the 16th spot for Sunday's race. In his usual fashion Traver put on a near perfect drive all the way up to 9th place. After being shuffled back a bit due to a minor error he pitted his car to hand it over to Mikel Miller where Miller would maintain good position through the end of the race to deliver a car not dialed in to their liking.

Returning to the BGB paddock after a year-long hiatus was Steven Bernheim.
Steve qualified his car in the 37th spot and brought it to pit road about 30 minutes into the race during the race's first full course caution. As he's had to do a few times this year, Craig Stanton assumed driving duties, put his head down and came up through the pack twice to deliver the car in 9th place without so much as a scratch on it. Team Manager John Tecce had more to add:

"I was pretty nervous on Saturday night when we didn't show up well on the time sheets. We had nothing for the BMWs and even some of the Porsches. When the fallout occurred in tech after the race, I felt somewhat relieved to know that things weren't entirely as they seem. I'm grateful to our crew for delivering this to us. We can win in the pits because of them and that's why we did as well as we did. The pit stop was so quick that I had time to make shock changes during the race and that's a luxury not many people have."

BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional Motorsports business. Last year BGB Motorsports won the 6 hour VIR finale, securing the manufacturers title for Porsche Cars North America. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, the team operates as a customer-oriented business, running cars under the Grand Am Cup, SCCA and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies.
