BGB Motorsports Fastest Among the
Porsches at Koni Challenge Test Days

Team Finishes Final Test Session with
1st, 2nd and 5th Place Honors

For Immediate Release

(DAYTONA BEACH, FL - January 9, 2007) Last weekend's Test Days at Daytona marked the first official on-track activity for the new Koni Challenge Series as nearly 70 cars descended upon Daytona International Speedway for 3 days of testing. The Grand-Am series continues to grow and change; there are new cars, new teams, bigger fields and new sponsors. One thing however that hasn't changed is that BGB Motorsports continues to field Porsches that have the ability to shine among their competitors, specifically among the other Stuttgart entries. The team arrived at Daytona with a brand new 2007 997 built for Tim Traver and Mikel Miller. The car had never turned a wheel before Wednesday and there was some skepticism as to how well it would debut; most every other team that has taken a new 997 to Daytona has endured the typical new car teething issues. In addition to the new 997, the team also owns one of the original Synergy 997s but they are unfamiliar with the car having not run it during the 2006 season. The well sorted and proven #38 996 was also brought to the test to be sorted for potential customers and to be used as a benchmark for the 997s.

As research had indicated, the new chassis from Porsche doesn't particularly like what the older 996 chassis did. Thursday's results for both of the team's 997s confirmed this. As testing continued, the BGB 997s continued to move up the sheets. As the drivers became more and more acclimated to their new cars for 2007, the team continued to learn alongside them. On the 3rd and final day Mikel Miller and Craig Stanton headed out with the new 997 and the 996 determined to put BGB at the top of the sheets. As the morning session ended, Stanton was in 3rd in the 996 with Miller 5th in the 997.

Both cars were ahead of all of the other Porsches. This trend continued through the afternoon as Stanton and Miller finished 1st and 2nd respectively overall. Not satisfied, Stanton jumped out of the 996 and into the team's other 997 to put that car in the 5th spot so that the BGB Motorsports crew could experience the luxury of three cars in the top 5 to end the final session of the weekend.

The team is very satisfied with the results of the weekend considering that both 997s are very new to them. BGB is still searching for a funded driver to run with Craig Stanton for the year in what has now been proven to be either a very competitive 996 or 997.

With only 18 days until the opening round of the 2007 season, the team is already back in the shop working hard. The green flag drops for the 3 hour Koni Challenge opening round at 2:15pm on Friday January 26th.

BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional Motorsports business. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, the team operates as a customer-oriented business, running cars under the Grand Am Cup, SCCA and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies.
