BGB
HEADS NORTH FOR
GRAND-PRIX DE TROIS-RIVIÈRES
For Immediate Release
(DAYTONA BEACH, FL - August 3, 2006) BGB Motorsports arrived
in Quebec on Wednesday for the 2006 Grand-Prix de Trois Rivières,
escaping the winds and rain that prematurely ended their
run to the front last weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.
Their two Porsche 996s occupy the 5th and 6th spots in the
2006 Grand-Am Cup GS Team Championship. The #83 SimpleNet.com
Porsche
996 of Tim Traver and Mikel Miller leads the #38 Porsche
of Mark Plummer and Craig Stanton by only 8 points. 28 points
separate Traver and Miller from the first place BMW M3 of
Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason. The team is looking forward
to Sunday’s race on the streets of Trois-Rivières,
as they feel that it is a track that suits the Porsche’s
strengths. The track is fairly new to many Grand-Am Cup drivers,
leveling the playing field even more.
Team Manager John Tecce had more to add:
“I think that Craig Stanton might be the only person
that’s been here before. We don’t have a lot
of track time but I’m confident that our drivers and
engineers will produce another great race car for both sets
of drivers for Sunday’s race. If everyone plays nice
we’ll be there at the end to put up a fight. This is
a tough track on brakes and a true test of restraint and
endurance”
BGB did not have a lot of time to prepare after last weekend’s
event at Barber Motorsports Park where the #38 Intown Suites
Porsche 996 of Plummer and Stanton finished in 8th place,
just three spots in front of teammates Tim Traver and Mikel
Miller in the SimpleNet.com Porsche. Due to the lack of downtime
between events, the team was forced to prepare the cars after
everything was unloaded in Canada on Wednesday. Both Porsches
have some unfinished business for the Grand-Am Cup GS field
in Canada. Everyone at BGB is looking to pick up where they
left off last week in Birmingham.
Qualifying for Sunday’s 150-mile GS race is at 9:30am
on Saturday morning.
The green flag for Sunday’s 2-hour race drops at 3:05pm.
Stay tuned for more to come from beautiful downtown Trois-Rivières.
In addition, don’t forget that tape delay television
coverage of the Barber Park 200 will be available on Speed
TV on August 5th at 1:00pm.
BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional Motorsports
business. Last year they established themselves as the team
to look out for in the Grand Am Cup's GS class. Based in
Daytona Beach, Florida, the team operates as a customer-oriented
business, running cars under the Grand Am Cup, SCCA and Porsche
Club of America sanctioning bodies.
