BGB
MOTORSPORTS READY FOR VIR 200
TEAM WILL ADD STRONG
3rd 996
TO ALREADY POTENT LINEUP
For Immediate Release
(Daytona Beach, FL-April 17, 2006) Pre-event entry lists
are showing almost 100 cars for Saturday’s VIR 200.
With a car count like that at a fast, technical track like
VIR, you’ve got to be prepared and you need depth.
You need strong cars, a strong driver lineup and a team with
a solid foundation. With the completion of two solid days
of testing at VIR last week, BGB Motorsports believes they
have what it takes.
The podium escaped the team at the opening
round at Daytona. It was a weekend filled with ups and downs,
laps led, fast race laps, top 5 qualifying positions and
solid performances by both cars, but it lacked one thing;
it lacked a win. The team’s intention however, is to continue that strong
momentum and hopefully achieve that victory they’ve
worked so hard for.
Returning in the #38 BGB Motorsports Porsche
996 will be the season long duo of Mark Plummer and Craig
Stanton. The #38 was very strong at Daytona, posting the
fastest race lap overall for the 87 car field. Craig Stanton
had more to add: “I’m looking forward to the race. We
had a great test last week and I really think these guys
are on it.”
The #83 SimpleNet.com Porsche 996 will
also be piloted by a season long duo, as Tim Traver and Mikel
Miller have signed on to run an entire year in the car. Both
drivers are west coast natives and haven’t had the
chance to visit VIR as much as some, but they’ll be
up to speed quickly, just as they were at Daytona. Tim Traver
had more to add: “I’m looking forward to seeing
what we can do at VIR. I think we’re ahead of the game
in terms of prep. The guys in the BGB shop have been working
hard over the break to give us a shot at the podium.” The newest member to the BGB team will be Ryan Pilla. Pilla
will drive the #84 Rhinestone Roxy/HiDefSpex/Car Doctor World
Porsche 996 for the balance of the 2006 season. His season
long codriver will be announced after this weekend’s
race. John Tecce had more to add: “I’m excited
about Ryan’s joining our team. I have known his brother
Philip for a few years now; I have been following Ryan’s
results with the intention of always trying to do something.
Ryan and Philip came to us in January and we were able to
quickly put something together. They both want to further
BGB’s success in anyway they can and they will.”
BGB finds contentment in the fact that their three strong
driver pairings will shine as more than just horsepower
is needed at a technical track like VIR with its 17 turns
and 3.3 miles of challenging elevation change.
