BGB
MOTORSPORTS CHOMPING AT THE BIT
FOR DAYTONA 200 GREEN FLAG
EXCITED ABOUT 2006
AND RECENT SUCCESS
AT DAYTONA TEST DAYS
For Immediate Release
(Daytona Beach, FL-January 26, 2006) BGB Motorsports has
had a pretty kind January. Daytona International Speedway
is their home track and that allows team members to experience
things like sleeping in their own beds and travel days lasting
less than most people’s lunches. They completed three
very successful days at the Daytona Test with their pair
of 996s posting the 1st and 5th quickest times for the weekend.
It’s been a great start to the year because the team
did their homework and has been ready and prepared for the
Daytona opener since the end of December. The team is very
anxious to start the 2006 season and looks forward to this
Friday’s Grand-Am Cup 200.
Mark Plummer and Craig Stanton
will look to the #38 BGB Porsche to take them where they
want to go – the front. “I’m
very excited about the Cup race and also 2006. I’ve
been watching the BGB team for over a year. I’m really
looking forward to driving with Mark and the whole program
itself,” said Craig Stanton, driver of the #38 996.
An
enormous field of nearly 90 cars will take the green flag
for the race. BGB will be running two Porsche 996s and will
debut a new Porsche 997 that was one of the original Synergy
built Competition Package cars. Team Manager John Tecce had
more to add, “A lot can happen with 90 cars
sharing 3.5 miles of track. We have three very capable Porsches
though, one of which is a brand new [to us] 997. I’m
confident that the team will do their job well in the pits
and that the drivers handle their end of the effort. We have
potentially the strongest 3 car driver lineup for the Cup
race.”
The duo of Mikel Miller and Tim Traver will return to the
#83 Porsche because they have unfinished business. Tim Traver
added more, “I’m excited. We were pretty competitive
at the Test Days. It will be interesting to see what happens
when the other cars decide to show their hands.” Piloting
the 3rd BGB entry will be father and son Greg and Mark Wilkins.
BGB is interested in their impressions of the new 997. Greg
Wilkins is no stranger to Grand-Am Cup and has a lot of experience
in a GS prepared Porsche 911. Found usually in a formula
car, Mark has some seat time as well in the GS car; there
is no doubt that the two will deliver.
The green flag for
the Grand Am Cup 150 drops at 2:15 pm on Friday, January
27th with live timing and scoring with a live web cast
is available at http://grandamerican.vfx.com/Rolex/GrandAmerican_800.asp.
