Craig Stanton Joins BGB Motorsports For 2006

STANTON AND PLUMMER TO HELP TEAM
CONTINUE CLIMB TO THE TOP

For Immediate Release

(Daytona Beach, FL-January 3, 2006) BGB Motorsports announced today that Craig Stanton will join Mark Plummer this season in the #38 BGB Porsche.

In July 2005 Craig Stanton filled in for Guy Cosmo at Barber Motorsports Park. Cosmo was in contention for the ALMS P2 driver’s championship at the time and completed his year with 2005 ALMS Rookie of the Year honors.

Craig will be teamed with returning driver Mark Plummer in the all too familiar #38 entry. Mark is a fast, agile driver who manages to find the last bit of speed in whatever car he is competing in. In the monsoon conditions at VIR in October of 2005, Plummer set the fastest lap of the race against drivers who were arguably in cars better suited for the horrendous conditions.

BGB is committed to their development of the 996 platform and they’ve sought Craig Stanton with the hopes that he’ll brand the team with his Porsche stamp of approval. Stanton’s experience with the Porsche 996 expands the Grand Am Rolex GT Championships, Grand Am Cup Championships, and wins in the American LeMans Series. In 2004 Craig was runner up for the prestigious Porsche Cup. Craig is a solid driver, who is known for his speed, and cunning race craft on and off the track. He is well respected by his competitors wherever he competes. BGB Motorsports director John Tecce had more to add:

“We enjoyed working with Craig at Barber and I think he had a good time with us also. He wanted to come back to see what we were all about. I think he’ll help us a great deal in our quest to further develop the 996. Craig also has a large following of students though that are interested in taking the next step to the Pro level. I think we can share resources on many different fronts.”

BGB Motorsports will be preparing for the 2006 season at the Rolex Daytona Test Days in early January, with an eye towards the opening race of the season, the Daytona Grand Am Cup 200 on Friday, January 27th.

BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional Motorsports business. Last year they established themselves as the team to look out for in the Grand Am Cup’s GS class. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, the team operates as a customer oriented business, running cars under the Grand Am Cup, SCCA and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies.
